Good news for young people who often complain about the difficulty of treating acne. More recently, a group of researchers from the United States found that one of the components of milk, namely lauric acid, has an effect in the fight against acne.

Lauric acid which also plentiful in the coconut oil, is also believed to have antimicrobial effects. The effect is exactly what used to combat acne caused by a bacterial infection. In addition, lauric acid apparently can also be found in cow's milk and goat's milk.

Interestingly, treatment of acne by using basic ingredients lauric acid has no side effects, unlike other acne medications that generally have side effects and a burning sensation on the face.

The study was conducted by Dissaya Pornpattananagkul, a postgraduate student in bioengineering from the University of California, which inadvertently conducted a study involving lauric acid, which is a natural substance that is contained in coconut oil. In addition, Dissaya also are developing methods of application and face cream containing lauric acid, so that lauric acid contained in a face cream can be absorbed into the skin effectively.

The researchers hope to begin series clinical trials of of face cream with lauric acid content, so it can quickly be used to treat acne, which until now has been a problem for most teenagers in the world. (WebMD)
