In a study published in the journal Pediatrics stated that mental disorders such as depression, anxiety, abuse of alcohol and drugs, and other personality disorders may be associated with physical punishment.
Physical punishment identical to push, grab, slap and hit the children is usually done within the framework of physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, physical neglect, or emotional neglect.
"It clearly shows that physical punishment should not be applied to children of any ages., And we need to consider the policies and programs of child protection from this kind of condition," said researcher Tracie Afifi of the department of public health sciences at the University of Manitoba. Moreover, spanking as a form of education to children is banned in 33 countries, although in Canada and the United States itself, the physical punishment of children is still considered legal for parents.
